Visiting Fellowship

ASEAN Studies Center UGM welcomes application for Researchers and Academic in ASEAN Studies or related areas to become a visiting fellow at our Center. The visiting fellowship program is intended to enable the sharing of expertise from researches who are working in the discipline related of International Relations, Southeast Asian Studies, Political Science, and ASEAN-related field. The period of fellowship could be arranged up to 3 months, dependent upon the availability of space at the Centre. We also charge a ‘bench fee’ to cover the administrative costs of the Fellowship

  1. Candidates must be a Full-Time Academic or Researcher working in ASEAN-related topics.
  2. PhD Candidates or Postgraduate Research Students undertaking their Doctoral or Master’s researches are also welcomed
  1. Applications for Visiting Research Fellowships are invited for commencement in March – November 2017
  2. The Visiting is intended mainly for researchers who are in active employment of their home institution. Therefore they are expected to be self-funded. Honorarium will only be given related to the program that the Researchers are engaged with at ASEAN Studies Center,.
  3. Visiting Fellow is expected to:

1) contribute one working paper (5000-7000 words) related to researcher’s area of interest in ASEAN-related issues. (Fellow whose period of fellowship is less than one month will be expected to write a policy brief or blog post at ASC website).

2) Give one research seminar or lecture in ASEAN-related class.

3) Participate in any academic activities at ASEAN Studies Center UGM

  1. Visiting staff will be provided with:
      1. access to the libraries at UGM,
      2. working space at ASEAN Studies Center
      3. computing facilities (dependent upon the number of Visiting Fellow)
  2. Visiting fellowship can be applied for maximum 3 months with a possibility of extension for 1 month.
  3. The cost for ‘Bench Fee’ is as follow:

1) Postgraduate Student : $50 per month

2) Full-Time Academic or Professional Researcher: $100 per month

  1. Cover Letter, describing Applicants intentions for research fellowship, time periods, and topic of the current research.
  2. Curriculum Vitae
  3. Sample of Publication
  4. A letter of reference from current employer or fellow academic.
